In 2016 the Italian government decided to make Hemp cultivation completely legal. This being said, the new interior Minister of Italy has pushed for the closure of shops selling Cannabis Light, although to date no action has been taken.

Yes and no. Purchase of Cannabis products with THC levels of 0.2% is legal, as long as it stays below the previously mentioned limit of 0.6% THC. Much like Canada prior to the 2018 legalization, Cannabis use is decriminalized in Italy, meaning possessing Cannabis products of 0.6% THC or higher is a misdemeanor or a small fine, and not a criminal offense.
